Initiative directly influences your character's ability to enter into the turn order. What this field represents is your bonus to initiative

Bonus Initiative is calculated like this:

Bonus Initiative = Dexterity

Whenever you roll Initiative, add the number of your Bonus Initiative to the number of your roll.
